The Palin Defense

Bookmark and Share
In an ideas piece, an economist blogger writing under the pseudonym 'Democracy in America' (DIA), posted "Why We Report on Her," an argument for the Palin crazed media. He claims that despite being referred to as "the Rev. Jackson of the GOP" she is actually good for the party. DIA claims that Palin's convention speech was one of the only positive notes during the 2008 campaign.

He goes on to explain that she is reshaping her image to become less threatening, "Sure, she provides red-meat to the wing nuts in her party, but her conservatism has a potential not to frighten the children." The high note of the piece is in the details of Palin's remolding:

She has a gay friend in her memoirs, and understands why women sometimes want an abortion, even if it's morally wrong. She clips coupons, and she wants to bring change to Washington (don't they all).
So wait a second... Gay Friend... Understanding of Abortion.... CLIPS COUPONS...! I believe we have just rediscovered the next President of the United States. Can I cast my vote early?

PALIN 2012!
