The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) has officially made a complete mockery of itself as it awaits the presence of the defendant in order to commence proceedings. Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic, has been accused of war crimes, genocide, and other crimes against humanity but has failed to appear for trial. This makes the trial difficult to begin since he will be representing himself and his legal council says Karadzic will never accept a laywer selected to represent him by the tribunal.
Once Again -
Karadzic is on trial for genocide. Karadzic has a team of lawyers but claims he will represent himself. The trial cannot begin until Karadzic has representation. Karadzic will not accept an appointed lawyer during his absence. The court will simply delay proceedings until Karadzic decides to show up.
